sh.st/tVdGD sh.st/tCXMj GOPers violate the Constitution on the Day They Staged the Reading of the Document in the House - Progressive Eruptions Style

TWO REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMEN UNCONSTITUTIONALLY VOTED IN FIRST BUSINESS OF THE DAY OF THE 112TH CONGRESS.

THEY BELIEVED THEY HAD TAKEN THEIR OATHS BY WATCHING THE OATH TAKING ON TEEVEE.

THEY WERE ALSO IN VIOLATION OF THE CONSTITUTION BY FUND RAISING IN THE CAPITAL.

"As if the first few days had not been going well for the GOP [it is already backtracking on some of their pledges they made to the American people], two Republicans were found on Thursday to have violated the very document they have vowed to put a renewed focus on.

Representatives Pete Sessions (R-Texas) and Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) cast votes despite the fact that they were not technically members of Congress at the time. Instead of being present for the official swearing-in ceremony on the House floor on Wednesday, they attended an event for Fitzpatrick in another part of the Capitol. Sessions, who is chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, also chaired the Rules Committee for a period of time during a healthcare repeal bill hearing on Thursday."

And instead of getting to work and getting Americans back to work, the first order of business for the House is to stage a vote, destined to failm to repeal the health care law.

Anthony Weiner took to the floor today in order to point out that a Republican resolution to validate the unconstitutional votes taken by Representatives Pete Sessions and Mike Fitzpatrick when they had not yet been sworn in as members of Congress, violated the new “transparency” rules the Republicans introduced on the very first day of the new Congress. Those rules call for three days notice before votes. Republicans allowed for four minutes of debate on this particular resolution.

Whoops! GOP violates Constitution the day they read the Constitution

"No, they didn't refuse to extradite some fugitive slaves. They just acted like duly elected Representatives without being sworn in!

The new Republican majority already committed a major boehner on the second day of the new Congress. Representatives Pete Sessions of Texas and Mike Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania were busy attending a fundraiser when all their colleagues were actually sworn in as members of Congress. So, whoops, they're not members yet. No biggies, right? Wrong! Because then they both showed up to work and cast some votes, in direct violation of our Constitution, which they then participated in the official reading of, on the floor of the House.

Sessions even chaired the Rules Committee while he wasn't a member, because in 2011, all jokes will officially write themselves."

More from Salon.

And finally, this piece of idiocy from Steve King (Asshat, Iowa) where, on the floor of the House, he praised the mendacity of his colleagues.  What a dumb ass!  I keep thinking of what John Stuart Mill once wrote:  "Not all conservatives are stupid, but most stupid people are conservative."  Yes, Rep. King, thanks for telling us something we already knew.

The jokes just write themselves.
